We aim to empower the local Muslim members of our community who may feel isolated from mainstream services.

Our aims, objective and vision

Youth and Women: Encouraging Participation

The Becontree Heath Islamic Society aims to offer a range of services that will enable young people and women to engage in a positive and safe environment. We will strive to increase the number of youth actively engaging in programmes of learning and recreation, dealing with issues of anti-social behaviour, drugs, extremism and gang culture. Facilities will be provided to allow women to access relevant services in a culturally sensitive environment, including counselling services, special events, social support, and training.

Promoting Tolerance and Opposing Extremism

The Becontree Heath Islamic Society will strive to work actively to promote tolerance and understanding. Several times each year, we hope to open the doors of the Mosque, inviting people to visit and view an exhibition about Islam and Muslims. Our community workers encourage constructive engagement in society and a rejection of extremism in all its forms. We unequivocally reject all terrorism. We advise worshippers to ensure they are registered to vote and to take part in local and national elections.
